PARADOGMATA riot once more with savage metal grooves:
23.11.2023Single The Cleansing Flood out now / Album Endetid is finally here
PARADOGMATA reveal another killer tune straight out of Norway, succeeding their smashing video singles Seven Curses For The Deathly Pale and The Seeds Of Greed. These singles perfectly showcased the core of the band's sound: a mixture of thrilling thrash and death metal, driven by fundamental social criticism.
Today, the band strikes back with one more relentless, yet catchy composition. The Cleansing Flood tells a tale about a violent flood, washing away humanity’s sins, redeeming what’s been done and establishing a new world. PARADOGMATA continue their narrative and create another combat statement against the corruption of society: “This song is once again about humanity's efforts in eradicating ourselves – this time by melting the poles – and the great flood that will come to clean things up.”
Musically, the track wanders through a grungy and thrashy soundscape. Starting out with a groovy bass run, the song quickly opens up and presents a hefty soundwall where bright vocal melodies are shimmering over mosh-inducing guitar grooves. Things take a turn though, as the two vocalists enter into a sinister Jackyll & Hyde game, thus opening the blood gates to unleash the name-giving flood. Alice in Chains meets Death Metal!
To support this outburst of rage in the shape of a blunt track, the band chose a very special guest vocalist and explains why: “This one features our friend Chris Hathcock from The Reticent on clean vocals, and the dude's really delivering the goods! His main vocal influence is Simen Hestnæs/Vortex of Arcturus/Borknagar/ex-Dimmu, and so you can tell!”
Audio-visual impressions of the The Cleansing Flood:
But wait! There’s more of the Norwegian rage: PARADOGMATA’s full-length Endetid will finally be out on November 24th! The title derives from the Norwegian word for end time, as the album describes how mankind is doing away with itself while no one intervenes against it and the future of the planet is uncertain. This is the album’s leitmotif, fueling a vast spectrum of stormy thrash sounds, thoughtful passages and traditional heavy metal riffs. The band is stylistically broadly positioned, strictly rejects blinkers and doesn't really like to classify itself. Nevertheless, on Endetid, PARADOGMATA clearly drew a path: "Metal for the schizophrenic, haha. We love those songs, though the new material's more firmly rooted in the borderlands between thrash, death & black, but still with our melodic approach."
With Endetid, the band takes us on a dramatic journey of challenging songs that look behind the scenes of society. PARADOGMATA present a clear statement: Indifference and too much power lead to downfall. "Does the world deserve having us as 'alphas'?" is the question this album will leave us with.
Endetid was recorded at NordStern Studio with Kenneth "Ahzari" Jorgensen (Beyond Man, Saligia) and C. Broholt (Katechon, Hellstorm, Infant Death) in winter 2021/summer 2022 and mixed and mastered by P.V. Leth-Olsen at Granraude Studio. It features guest vocals by Robert Lowe (Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Tyrant, Grief Collector) and Chris Hathcock (The Reticent, Xael), with backing vocals by Magnus Helmersen (The Federation). The album artwork and design came from Remedy Art Design, who have also worked for Evergrey, Oceans of Slumber, Kamelot, Blood Red Throne, Amaranthe, The Crown, Hexed, Seventh Wonder, Maladie & The Midgard Project.
