"HOPE" by Perfect Strangers
11.05.2021Because Every Dark Time Needs its Anthem
There are times in the existence of mankind that remain in the dark. With stage lights off, curtains down and the venues of this world abandoned, people are starved for diversion. Stuck at home with nowhere to turn, the pull of the void can feel inescapable – that is why we need reminders that there is always HOPE.
A supergroup of musicians, who have played with such greats as The Bee Gees, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Joe Cocker or Tina Turner, PERFECT STRANGERS have committed themselves to spreading faith in a bright future. Written by James Jimmy Duncan and Tony Brannon, the song has struck a chord with fans all over the world, including big names like Genesis mastermind Steve Hackett and even Academy Award winning actor Michael Douglas (Basic Instinct), who teased the song with a little video: “One of my old buddies – Tony Brannon, a musician – has turned me on to a beautiful piece of music that he and a few of his friends called THE PERFECT STRANGERS are doing. And it’s called Hope, and boy do we need a lot of that right about now!”
I WANNA FEEL HOPE
BUT I'M LIVING A LONG DARK NIGHT
I WANNA SEE BRUCE AND THE E STREET BAND
SINGING BLINDED BY THE LIGHT
I WANNA BE IN THE STANDS CHANTING
“YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE”
I’M TIRED OF ALL THIS MADNESS
A LONELY PRISONER IN MY HOME
I’VE GOTTA HAVE HOPE (GOTTA HAVE HOPE)
SOMETHING TO SEE ME THROUGH
I GOTTA HAVE FAITH (I’VE GOTTA HAVE FAITH)
I GOTTA BELIEVE IN ME AND YOU
I GOTTA SHAKE THIS FEELING
I’M AT THE END OF MY ROPE
I‘VE GOTTA HAVE LOVE (I’VE GOTTA HAVE LOVE)
I’VE GOTTA HAVE FAITH (I’VE GOTTA HAVE FAITH)
AND I GOTTA HAVE HOPE
I AIN’T WORKED IN SO LONG
AND THE MONEYS RUNNING LOW
I GOT SUICIDE IN MY BACK POCKET
LORD KNOWS THAT AIN’T THE WAY TO GO
I WANNA BE IN THE LINE, CRYING
“YOU KNOW I’M READY TO BURN”
TO DANCE AND SING AND LAUGH AGAIN
I KNOW THE TIDE WILL TURN
BREATHE IN AND OUT
HOLD ON BE STRONG
JUST CLING TO MY FAITH
