“Basically we create “Umtata Minor”" – it’s definitely not easy to case this style into “intelligent” words.
At first, there is Max, the singer of the band. A globetrotter, in his eyes the world is a village. Nepal, Indonesia, Tibet, Sri Lanka, Russia, the Himayalas, the USA, Canada, India – he has seen it all. All these countries are rather far away from Hamburg/Germany. He is the figurehead of the band, the name-giver and the source of inspiration. Only vaguely can the question be answered, where all his influences come from. Is the piano his favourite instrument? Or maybe the guitar? Does he listen to Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, The Doors? Or is it rather classical music, Slavic music, polka? The easiest answer probably is: Rock and Hard Rock influences come from the guitar – the piano is used for creating the unorthodox sounds, the classical and Slavic songs.
Not to forget, there are also his friends Jakob, Niki, Christian, Sebastian and Artjorn. Altogether, they are Maks and the Minors.
Last question: Does the place of recording, Alicante/Spain, have an influence on the recordings? Yes! This CD has a lot of sun to give!
