MEGADETH – Anthology: Set The World AfireSep 12th, 2008
Since Dave Mustaine left Metallica more than 20 years ago and shortly afterwards founded MEGADETH, the extremely successful Heavy Metal band is rocking through the Heavy Metal world. The 2-CD box “Anthology: Set The World Afire” comprises this terrific career and contains their biggest hits, including an unreleased demo as well as two rare live tracks!
“Anthology: Set The World Afire” is brim-full of 35 electrifying tracks, with the top hits: “Trust”, “A Tout Le Monde”, “Insomnia” and “Train of Consequences”, and also including two rare concert recordings from 1992 of “Peace Sells” and “Symphony Of Destruction” as well as the previously unreleased demo track “High Speed Dirt”.
Starting with their 1985 debut album “Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good!” and three successive albums, MEGADETH created their own dynamic style. In 1992 they moved more towards mainstream with their fifth album “Countdown To Extinction”, and thus attracted a bigger following. This was followed by remarkable albums such as “Youthanasia” (1994) or “Cryptic Writings” (1997). After a short break in 2002 they returned in 2004 with their 10th album called “The System Has Failed”.
Within the past few years MEGADETH cult singer Mustaine was involved in the extensive remastering campaign for albums released by Capitol Music, starting with the second album “Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?”. Mustaine spent several months remixing, remastering, editing, and – in some cases – even reconstructing in order for the MEGADETH Capitol Music catalogue to become as close to the original as possible. Within three decades MEGADETH have taken Heavy Metal to a future level – musically, lyrically and culturally – earning them 7 Grammy nominations and some platinum and multi-platinum awards. The 2-CD set “Anthology: Set the World Afire” proves once again that MEGADETH are an indispensable part of the Heavy Metal history.
