Der Ring – Move to Veltins Arena in GelsenkirchenApr 2nd, 2015
METALLICA (Friday, May 29), MUSE (Saturday, May 30), KISS (Sunday, May 31) and many, many more acts will come to the Veltins-Arena at Schalke from May 29 to 31 as ROCK IM REVIER comes to the Ruhr valley (Revier). The former “Der Ring – Grüne Hölle Rock” Festival moves away from the Nürburgring – and Rock fans everywhere are the winners!
The reason for the relocation of the festival is the breach of contract by Capricorn NÜRBURGRING GmbH, the site operator and owner. In addition, the Formula 1 race that was scheduled for late July has been withdrawn by the promoter, did not help to encourage the trust for a positive development. DEAG decided to terminate the joint staging of the festival event “Der Ring – Grüne Hölle Rock” at Nürburgring due to breach of contract by CNG (Capricorn NÜRBURGRING GmbH) and relocate the event to Gelsenkirchen in order to rescue the festival. DEAG has secured the extremely attractive line-up with mega headliners such as METALLICA, MUSE, and KISS, as well as many other popular acts for the three-day event. Fans of ultimate Rock can continue to look forward to a terrific rock spectacular. ROCKAVARIA and ROCK IN VIENNA are not affected by the development at the Nürburgring.
The Veltins-Arena at Schalke has a long tradition in rock history, with many legendary shows featuring world renown bands over the years, and it enjoys an excellent reputation in the rock scene. The infrastructure is excellent and there is a camping site nearby from where the fans will be shuttled to the Arena. More information and schedules will be published next week before the start of the advance sale.
Professor Peter Schwenkow, CEO of DEAG, is pleased: „The new solution is an outstanding win-win situation: the fans who for months have been looking forward to “Der Ring – Grüne Hölle Rock”, now have with ROCK IM REVIER the opportunity to experience this ultimate Rock spectacular in the heart of the Ruhr region. And all those who feel like attending a huge Rock event right on their doorstep, should rapidly get their tickets. The Ruhr Region is rocking!”
Other partners are likewise excited about this new solution: Moritz Beckers- Schwarz, Chairman of the Board of Management, FC Schalke 04 Arena Management GmbH: “We are very much looking forward to the cooperation with DEAG! The Ring, its fans and all artists will certainly fire up the audience in the Ruhr Valley!” The city of Gelsenkirchen is rejoicing: The municipal department head in charge Dr. Christopher Schmitt: “If ROCK IM REVIER comes to Gelsenkirchen to the Veltins Arena, the city will participate proactively in the preparatory planning.” The fans are welcome!
